How to get started.

Prepare.

Read through this Quickstart Guide section carefully. Make sure that you prepared for your session with an open mind and a positive outlook.

Schedule.

Schedule a three hour block of time when you know you/your team can be at their best. It may not take three hours, but most people would rather get out early than run overtime. Let everyone know that it will be a structured brainstorming session, so they do not have to come prepared with ideas already.

A good team consists of any members of your organization who are excited about your mission and want to brainstorm new ideas. You will get the most out of the experience if you also invite volunteers, board members and anyone else who is cheering you on. Much of the process relies on thinking about your community network- so round up the folks who seem to know everyone- they will be great assets to you!

Gather.

Gather what you will need:

  1. Laptops or smart phones so that all participants can take the assessment online themselves. Of course you can always read the questions aloud and have the group discuss the answers as you go along if need be.
  2. A comfortable setting  that you feel is conducive to teamwork.
  3. Scrap paper and writing implements for each member of your team.
  4. A whiteboard/chalkboard or flip chart for gathering those great event ideas.
  5. Brains and Passion.

Innovate.

You are ready. Get out there and think up some incredible events!
